Description: Les zones humides ordinaires correspondent à toutes les autres zones humides non "remarquables". Si elles ne présentent pas, à ce jour, une biodiversité hors du commun, elles montrent néanmoins toutes les caractéristiques des zones humides (végétation adaptée, inondabilité, nature du sol, etc.), remplissent des fonctions essentielles (auto-épuration, régulation des crues, etc.) et présentent encore un état et un fonctionnement biologique préservé a minima. Les recensements permettant de viser leur protection peuvent s’appuyer sur un inventaire simplifié. Alors même qu’elles sont au cœur des équilibres fondamentaux qui régissent le fonctionnement des bassins versants, ne serait-ce que par leur importante superficie, elles sont aujourd’hui particulièrement menacées. Les zones humides remarquables du bassin Rhin-Meuse ont pour une grande partie d’entre elles été identifiées dans le cadre d’inventaires réalisés à la fin des années 90. A l’inverse, les zones humides ordinaires et leur répartition sont très mal connues. La mise en œuvre d’inventaires complémentaires, permettant de réactualiser la connaissance sur les zones humides remarquables et mieux connaître les zones humides plus ordinaires nécessitant une attention particulière, fait actuellement l’objet de travaux associant la communauté scientifique, pour définir les méthodologies de délimitation et de description.
